The Ministry of Industry encourages textile, clothing and footwear products from Indonesia to deepen its business in Australia.

Minister of Industry (Menperin) Airlangga Hartarto said that his side and related ministries are accelerating the completion of free trade negotiations within the framework of Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA).

"The comprehensive bilateral cooperation will certainly boost the export of RI products to Australia," Airlangga said in an official statement on Tuesday (17/7).

In this negotiation Indonesia, Airlangga said, asked for textile and footwear products from the country free of customs duty. Currently, Indonesian products are charged at 10% to 17% percent. "If it can be eliminated or become 0 percent," he said,

In addition, Indonesia is working to increase Indonesia's exports to Australia in the form of a vehicle completely built up (CBU). This export can be in the form of engines with fuel oil and electric. "Because the automotive industry there is closed all. This is an opportunity for us, "he said.

In the first quarter of 2018, Indonesia's exports to Australia for the processing sector grew 18.7% to US $ 399.3 million from US $ 336.3 million in the same period in 2017. Whereas, Indonesia's overall export from selurub sector to Australia rose by 13.1% to US $ 667.8 million.

"The government is spurring the value of exports, especially in the manufacturing industry. Therefore, this sector is able to contribute significantly to encourage national economic growth and reduce trade deficit, "he said.

The Director General for International Industrial Resilience and Development (KPAII) of the Ministry of Industry, I Gusti Putu Suryawirawan stated that Indonesia's export opportunities to the Australian market are quite large. Moreover, according to Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap, the automotive industry is one of the five manufacturing sectors prioritized to be a pilot in the early stages for the implementation of 4.0 industry in the country.

In the roadmap, the government will spur the national automotive industry to become a champion for exports of ICE vehicles (internal combustion engines) and EV (electric vehicle / electric vehicle), he explained.

Menteri Perindustrian (Menperin) Airlangga Hartarto menuturkan pihaknya bersama kementerian terkait tengah mengakselerasi penyelesaian perundingan perdagangan bebas dalam kerangka Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA).
