The weakening of the rupiah against the US dollar (US) impact on the textile industry, the majority of raw materials is imported. This condition makes textile entrepreneurs raise prices up to 10%.

As is known Rupiah continues to move depressed, hit the US dollar is becoming more powerful. Based on Bloomberg Dollar Index, Friday (13/7/2018), Rupiah in spot exchange trading opened the level Rp14.360 per USD.

Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Ade Sudrajat stated, for textile entrepreneurs whose business is export-oriented, no problem with the strengthening condition of the US dollar. However, entrepreneurs with the domestic market made them raise prices since a week ago by 10%.

"About 10% increase in price, already since a week ago," he said.

According to him, the price increase should be done to keep the business entrepreneurs. Because, not only about the cost of expensive imports, rises in crude oil and coal in global markets, also impact on transportation and production costs.

"We have to raise the price, because the efficiency of all kinds has been done, besides the other cost also increase, the transportation will go up, all the components go up," he explained.

Nevertheless, it can not assess the market response with the price increase. Currently sales are still running as usual, but it will see the market response within the next month.

"Still the way (sales as usual), whether our market is able to absorb 10% is still a question, but we will see in the next month what kind," he said.

According to him, textile entrepreneurs need the certainty of the rupiah exchange rate so that it can develop a business plan with certainty.

Rupiah Melemah, Pengusaha Tekstil Naikan Harga 10%

Seperti diketahui Rupiah terus bergerak tertekan, terpukul dolar AS yang kian perkasa.
