Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita during his visit to the United States (US) wants to increase trade between the two countries.

On the sidelines of his official visit, Enggar attended a meeting between the Indonesian Textile Association (API) and the American Apprael & Footwear Association (AAFA) at Townsend House, Washington DC, USA.

As for the results of meetings of textile business actors in two countries, Enggar said the two agreed to increase trade. The government immediately welcomed positive.

"We are not only encouraging the spirit, but also committed to make the textile and garment industry as one of the export priorities," said Minister Engag in his official statement.

One of the points of cooperation in the field of textiles that can be improved, he said, related to the opening of market access for both countries. America will export cotton to Indonesia as raw material for textile products. Instead, Indonesia will increase the export of textile products to the US.

"The US exported commodities to Indonesia is a commodity we really need, the US can export more cotton to Indonesia if Indonesia can export more garment and textile products to the US," he explained.

The increased export of textile and textile products to the United States, he continued, will be balanced with US cotton exports to Indonesia. "This is a mutually beneficial partnership, indirectly, trade performance will balance itself," said Nasdem politician.

In addition to meeting with the textile association, Mendag Enggar continued his meeting with US Chamber of Commerce and Usindo. At the meeting, US businessmen conveyed their aspirations regarding non-tariff barriers in improving trade relations between Indonesia and the United States.

Indonesian Ambassador to Washington DC Budi Bowoleksono sees efforts to increase Indonesia and US trade as a positive thing. According to Budi, the Indonesian Embassy in Washington DC is ready to help increase the trade.

"This series of activities shows the importance of we must address this trade relationship with a positive attitude and the trade relations between Indonesia and the US are still many potentials that can be developed," said Budi

Industri Tekstil jadi Prioritas Ekspor ke AS
