Indonesia Clothing Expand to Canada PDF Print E-mail

A total of 30 models from Canada showcased a variety of clothing archipelago, the Horticulture Building, Lansdowne Park, Ottawa, Canada. The archipelago's outfit was exhibited in the Festival of Indonesia 2018, an annual trade, tourism and investment event organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Ottawa.


The festival, which features the theme "Indonesian Fashion in Ottawa" was officially opened by the Indonesian Ambassador to Canada, Dr. Teuku Faizasyah, and Ottawa Mayor, Mr. Jim Watson, on July 27, 2018.


Ambassador Teuku Faizasyah conveyed his hope that the festival will be able to open opportunities for traditional clothing and modern archipelago design to the Canadian market.


Meanwhile, the mayor of Ottawa, Mr. Jim Watson, expressed his pride for the active role of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in promoting the repertoire of traditional Indonesian cultural arts for the people of Ottawa and Canada.


In contrast to the previous Indonesian Festival, at the 12th Indonesian Festival, the Embassy in Ottawa specifically highlighted the Indonesian fashion industry for the Canadian community which in turn is expected to help the Indonesian fashion industry penetrate the Canadian market.


A total of 15 Indonesian fashion designers based in Jakarta, Bali, Montreal, New York and Chicago took an active role in the promotion of fashion nusantara.


Until the last day of organizing, the committee noted there are approximately 4000 visitors who attend and enjoy the various activities of Festival Indonesia 2018, ranging from fashion show archipelago, dance performances and traditional music as well as culinary and typical Indonesian market snacks.



Busana Nusantara Indonesia Merambah Ke Kanada


Sebanyak 30 model asal Kanada memamerkan beragam busana nusantara, di Horticulture Building, Lansdowne Park, Ottawa, Kanada. Busana nusantara itu di pamerkan dalam pagelaran Festival Indonesia 2018, ajang promosi dagang, pariwisata, dan investasi tahunan, yang diselenggarakan oleh KBRI Ottawa.


Festival yang mengusung tema “Indonesian Fashion in Ottawa” ini dibuka secara resmi oleh Duta Besar RI untuk Kanada, Dr. Teuku Faizasyah, dan Walikota Ottawa, Mr. Jim Watson, pada tanggal 27 Juli 2018.


Duta Besar Teuku Faizasyah menyampaikan, harapannya agar penyelenggaraan Festival ini mampu membuka peluang masuknya busana tradisional maupun rancangan modern nusantara ke pasar Kanada.


Sementara itu, Walikota Ottawa, Mr. Jim Watson, mengungkapkan rasa bangganya atas peran aktif KBRI Ottawa dalam mempromosikan khasanah seni budaya tradisional Indonesia bagi masyarakat Ottawa dan Kanada.


Berbeda dengan penyelenggaraan Festival Indonesia sebelumnya, pada pagelaran Festival Indonesia ke-12 ini, KBRI Ottawa secara khusus menyoroti industri fashion Indonesia bagi masyarakat Kanada yang pada gilirannya diharapkan mampu membantu industri fashion Indonesia merambah pasar Kanada.


Sebanyak 15 perancang busana Indonesia yang berbasis di Jakarta, Bali, Montreal, New York dan Chicago turut mengambil peran aktif dalam promosi busana nusantara.


Hingga hari terakhir penyelenggaraan, panitia mencatat terdapat kurang lebih 4000 pengunjung yang hadir dan menikmati beragam kegiatan Festival Indonesia 2018, mulai dari peragaan busana nusantara, penampilan seni tari dan musik tradisional serta kuliner dan jajan pasar khas Indonesia.
