Upstream textile producers asked the government to overhaul the allotted Logistic Logistics Center (PLB) for this type of industry.

Redma Gita Wirawasta, Secretary General of Filament Indonesian Fiber and Yarn Producers Association (APSyFI), said that PLB needs are only suitable for cotton raw materials.

Meanwhile, yarn and fabric no longer need PLB because it will hamper the sustainability of domestic producers' businesses.

He reminded that all fabric and textile products identified in the HS 52 and 54 codes, including fiber, yarn and fabric in HS 55 could all be produced domestically so that imports could be greatly reduced.

He reminded that this improvement was a step expected by President Joko Widodo. He said, at present the rate of import growth was starting to worry the government.

The President has repeatedly asked his staff to reduce imports in order to maintain the rupiah exchange rate.

Meanwhile, on a separate occasion, the Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto said it was committed to reducing imports by optimizing the domestic industry.

Even so, Airlangga does not explain how the form of forced enforcement of optimization can be done.

Alasan Pengusaha Tekstil Minta Pusat Logistik Berikat Ditinjau Ulang
