The domestic textile industry can still develop even though most of the raw materials are imported. On the other hand there are many challenges in the application of industry 4.0 where human, machine and data connectivity are the main ones.

This was stated by the Director of the Textile, Leather, Footwear and Multifarious Industries of the Ministry of Industry Muhdori in a workshop on Industrial Policy Deepening that took place at The Rich Hotel.

"Imports for garments are okay, as long as the raw materials used for the production of finished materials meet domestic and export needs," Muhdori said.

He said that from imported raw materials, 30 percent to meet domestic apparel needs, while exports were 70 percent. This shows that the garment textile industry still has great opportunities.

Furthermore Muhdori said, the challenge of the textile industry in the application of industry 4.0 is that raw materials and key components depend on imports. The industrial zone is not yet comprehensive, inadequate digital infrastructure and digital platforms that are not yet optimal.

Also the challenges of the production and export process are demanded to be environmentally friendly, small and medium industries that are still lagging behind, domestic funding and limited technology.

Limited innovation centers, there is no strong R & D sponsored by government or private

Industri Tekstil Masih Bisa Berkembang
