Textile entrepreneurs exchanging US dollars to Rupiah PDF Print E-mail

Exporters in textile sector also tried to strengthen the rupiah exchange rate which later weakened against the United States dollar (US). The method taken by increasing the ownership of the rupiah rather than the US dollar.

Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Ade Sudrajat said that export-oriented textile industry players had exchanged US dollars into the rupiah to maintain the exchange rate.

For example, for the needs of employee salaries and operational costs, industry players who usually exchange US dollars into rupiah are only for monthly needs, this time to be increased up to the next 6 months.

Even members of the association are expected to exchange US dollars into rupiah for the entire year. He also has appealed to its members to do that.

"So it is no longer monthly, we usually send it to us monthly, now it is exchanged for 6 months, directly for 6 months, if necessary directly 1 year," he said.

"I urge that your dollar will be exchanged tp rupiah as a form of love for Indonesia," he continued.

It's just that, he said industry players still keep a portion of US dollars for the import of raw materials. Because the import of raw materials must use US dollars.

"To pay for electricity and pay it is definitely with the rupiah, it is definitely exchanged, except if the raw material is, if the raw material is paid using the dollar," he added.

Pengusaha Tekstil Ramai-ramai Tukar Dolar AS ke Rupiah

Hanya saja, dia mengatakan pelaku industri tetap menyimpan sebagian dolar AS untuk keperluan impor bahan baku.
