Season Changes Cause of Decline in Textile Exports in September PDF Print E-mail

The Indonesian Textile Association (API) stated that  change of seasons in a number of countries caused exports of textiles and textile products to fall last month.

API Chairman Ade Sudrajat said the decline in exports of textiles and textile products in September was a common trend every year. "The usual cycle is due to transition of autumn to winter," said Ade

Even so, Ade is optimistic that  export value of textile and textile products will increase in the fourth quarter of 2018 along with the entry of winter. "Many winter goods that are shipped are actually more expensive than summer goods," he said.

Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that textile exports in September 2018 compared to August 2018 fell 9.9% and apparel industry exports fell 15.36%.

Meanwhile, exports of  apparel industry in September 2018 amounted to US $ 718.04 million, down compared to the achievement in August 2018 of US $ 848.64 million.

Head of  Trade Assessment and Development Agency, Ministry of Trade, Kasan, said  government continues to encourage textile and clothing textile industry to become an export commodity that is in demand by the world. The reason is that Indonesian products can still dominate because of their quality, quantity, continuity and very competitive prices.

Aside from the product side, Kasan said that to boost exports, promotion must continue to be carried out intensively by businesses. For example, exports to the United States (US), entrepreneurs still penetrate in Washington, Chicago, and Los Angeles because there are still trade attaches and government-owned promotion centers. "Entrepreneurs in the US say we are lacking in promotion so we can't compete with Vietnam," he said.

API also targets exports of textiles and textile products in 2025 to reach US $ 30 billion. That figure grew twice as much as last year's export realization of US $ 13 billion. Business actors are also preparing a road map to pursue the target.

US$ 718,04 juta, merosot dibandingkan capai Agustus 2018 senilai US$ 848,64 juta.

Angka it  tumbuh dua kali lipat dari realisasi ekspor tahun lalu sebesar US$ 13 miliar.
