The implementation of Making Indonesia 4.0 road map is believed to be able to revitalize  manufacturing industry sector in order to contribute more to national economic growth. The big target is  make Indonesia enter into the ranks of the top 10 countries with the strongest economy in the world by 2030.

In addition, continued Zakir, the program on roadmap will also boost competency of  industrial workforce. Moreover, Indonesia will enter a demographic bonus period with the majority of the population in productive age.

"Therefore, there needs to be a synergy between the government and the private sector. So, this is absolutely necessary, because industrial sector is the backbone of economy. And, national industry must be globally competitive, "he said.

Related to that, the Ministry of Industry has launched a vocational education program that links and matches industry in several regions in Indonesia. A total of 609 industries and 1,753 Vocational High Schools (SMK) have been involved and  implementation of this program will continue to be rolled out.

In Making Indonesia 4.0, five manufacturing sectors have been given priority in development, namely the food and beverage industry, textiles and clothing, automotive, chemical and electronics. The government decides that these five sectors will be focused on becoming the economic engine of the future, because they are ready to enter the digital era.

"The Ministry of Industry is calculating the magnitude of the impact of the five industrial sectors to increase the value of exports, the formation of jobs and economic growth," said Zakir.

A number of policies are believed to be able to arouse stretch of the national manufacturing industry. Based on data from Prompt Manufacturing Index (PMI) released by Bank Indonesia (BI), the processing industry sector in the country is considered to remain expansive throughout the quarter III / 2018, supported by positive performance from continuing production volumes.

Referring to the index, the performance of the manufacturing sector in July-September 2018 was at the level of 52.02%. Ratings above 50% indicate the industry is expanding. This expansionary phase has been started since quarter I / 2018 (50.14%) and continues into quarter II / 2018 (52.40%).

BI projects this expansionary PMI growth will be reflected in economic growth in  III / 2018 quarter with above 5%. In fact, the expansion phase in manufacturing industry sector will also continue in the IV / 2018 quarter.

Chairperson of Indonesian Entrepreneurs Association (Apindo) Hariyadi Sukamdani believes that the positive trend in the manufacturing industry sector will still last until the end of this year, in line with the increasing demand for dometics. However, in order to spur industrial performance, the government needs to continue to pay attention to all the needs of the manufacturing sector, especially regarding the supply of raw materials.

Making Indonesia 4.0 Merevitalisasi Industri Manufaktur Lebih Ekspansif

Sejumlah kebijakan diyakini mampu membangkitkan geliat industri manufaktur nasional.

Namun demikian, guna memacu kinerja industri, pemerintah perlu terus memperhatikan segala kebutuhan sektor manufaktur, terutama mengenai pasokan bahan baku.
