Increase TPT Exports and Footwear PDF Print E-mail

Separately, members of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Anne Patricia Susanto said, from many trade agreements, IEU-CEPA was the most awaited textile entrepreneur. The reason, competing countries, such as Vietnam have long made trade agreements with Europe. As a result, Vietnam's textile exports to the EU were at the top and beat Indonesia.

If IEU-CEPA is completed, he asserted, Indonesia could catch up and encourage TPT exports. He hopes that next year IEU-CEPA will be agreed and benefit both countries.

API Chairman Ade Sudrajat said Indonesia's TPT exports were in the fourth position in the world, after Vietnam, India and China. During 2015-2017, the average growth of textile exports reached 4%. Last year, the value of textile exports reached US $ 12.58 billion and this year it is targeted to reach US $ 13 billion.

In fact,  Ministry of Industry   projects TPT exports this year to touch US $ 14 billion. In 2017, based on API data, as many as 36% of textile exports went to the United States (US), then the Middle East 23%, and the EU 13%.

API, he said, is optimistic to see  textile export market going forward. In 2025, TPT exports are targeted to reach US $ 30 billion. If  trade agreement with t EU is completed, the target is easily achieved and Indonesia will become the largest textile exporter in the world.

"I hope the trade agreement with Europe can be completed next year because the European market is quite promising," he said.

He believes, textile exports to the EU could rise sharply to around US $ 5-6 billion as IUE-CEPA enters into force compared to the highest position of US $ 2 billion. This reflects on the success of Vietnam which was able to dominate exports to the EU. Vietnam has long cooperated with the EU.

Indonesia's main export market, he said, is still US. The EU market has not been optimally worked out, because there are no trade agreements. "Very much hope that the IEU-CEPA will be completed next year because the multiplier effect is quite large," he said.

Selama 2015-2017, rata-rata pertumbuhan ekspor TPT mencapai 4%. Tahun lalu, nilai ekspor TPT mencapai US$ 12,58 miliar dan tahun ini ditargetkan mencapai US$ 13 miliar.

Bahkan, Kementerian Perindustrian (Kemenperin) memproyeksikan ekspor TPT tahun ini menyentuh US$ 14 miliar.

Pada 2025, ekspor TPT ditargetkan mencapai US$ 30 miliar.

Dia meyakini, ekspor TPT ke UE bisa naik tajam menjadi berkisar US$ 5-6 miliar seiring berlakunya IUE-CEPA dibandingkan posisi tertinggi US$ 2 miliar.

Pasar ekspor utama Indonesia, kata dia, selama ini masih AS.
