The Ministry of Industry strengthens Human Resources (HR) of the textile and textile products (TPT) industry, which still requires many skilled workers.

"The textile industry is a labor-intensive and export-oriented sector, which is one of the priorities in development," said Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry Haris Munandar through his statement received in Bali,

The TPT industry is one of five manufacturing sectors which are designated as pioneers in the readiness to enter the era of the fourth industrial revolution in the country according to the map of Making Indonesia 4.0.

Referring to the Ministry of Industry's record, the textile industry in the country has absorbed as many as 3.58 million people or 21.2 percent of the total workforce in manufacturing industry today.

Furthermore, the TPT industry, including a significant foreign exchange earner through export value of US6.48 billion in quarter II-2018.

"The textile industry has a strategic role, because the products produced from raw materials (such as fiber) to consumer goods (ready-made clothing and finished goods) have a good relationship between industries and other economic sectors," Haris explained.

Therefore, in order to further boost the competitiveness of the national textile industry in the global arena, the STTT Bandung Polytechnic as one of the education units owned by the Ministry of Industry always focuses on producing skilled HR according to the needs of the textile industry that can keep up with the latest technological developments.

In Antara's notes, the Bandung STTT graduated 369 graduates. They consist of 286 graduates of the Diploma IV or Applied Bachelor Program and 83 graduates of the Diploma I Program in collaboration with the textile industry associations and companies.
