Indonesia officially signed an Indonesian trade agreement with four countries incorporated in the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). The four EFTA countries are Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Norway.

The signing of the Indonesian agreement text - EFTA Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IE - CEPA) was represented by the Indonesian Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita.

"The signing of this agreement is expected to bring the Indonesian economy stronger, more competitive and attractive to investors from developed countries, EFTA members," Enggar explained

The IE - CEPA Agreement covers issues of goods trade, service trade, investment, intellectual property rights, sustainable development, origin and customs provisions, trade facilities, trade security, business competition, legal and cooperation and capacity building.

Swiss Minister of Trade Federal Councillor Ammann stated that the agreement with Indonesia was awaited by business players from EFTA countries who wanted to develop their business in Indonesia. In 2017, the total value of Indonesia's trade with EFTA countries is only around US $ 2.4 billion.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency, EFTA is the 23rd non-oil and gas export destination. The 25th largest non-oil and gas import country for Indonesia.

Indonesia's main exports to EFTA include jewelry, optical devices, gold, telephone devices and essential oils. While Indonesia's main imports from EFTA are gold, turbo jet engines, medicines, fertilizers and industrial raw material blends.
