The Indonesian Textile Association (API) said that the country's textile industry has now implemented the 4.0 industrial revolution. However, most implementations have only been carried out within the scope of company management or have not yet arrived at the production process.

He said system had been implemented on average by export-oriented companies. Because the average overseas buyer wants the implementation of SAP as a technical standard that must be met. Without the implementation of SAP, of course, the textile industry in the country will be difficult to compete with the textile industry in other developing countries.

Currently Indonesian textile industry must face a number of heavy competitors such as China and Vietnam for the Southeast Asian region. Indonesia's position on the global textile market is only 2%, far smaller than China, which ranked first at 30%.

The textile industry is the third largest contributor to Indonesia's foreign exchange earnings. This industry in 2017 contributed export foreign exchange of 2.54 billion US dollars (US). This contribution is ranked third after palm oil products amounted to US $ 22.9 billion and the tourism sector amounted to US $ 20 billion.

Related to the investment of the textile industry in the country facing the 4.0 industrial revolution, Ade called all back to each company with different needs.

Application of technology to deal with revolution 4.0 in the textile industry in the country on average the company independently. This means that each company conducts internal research without involving third parties or technology providers.

When mentioned about reduction of workforce due to implementation of the industrial revolution 4.0, Ade said all returned to the production capacity of each company. If the implementation of the production capacity also increases, the reduction in labor is unlikely. It is also possible that the company will increase employment if demand increases after the implementation of 4.0 industrial revolution.

So far the government is considered to have been good enough in helping textile industry implement 4.0 industrial revolution. The assistance provided by the government includes a number of operator-level training in the form of 3 in 1 system training (training, competency certification and work placement).

In addition, the Ministry of Industry (Kemperin) through one of its vocational education units, Surakarta Academy of Textile and Textile Products Industry (AK Textile) has scored 157 graduates in 2018.

Belum semua perusahaan tekstil siap terapkan Revolusi Industri 4.0
