The Ministry of Industry is aiming for an investment of Rp130 trillion from the chemical, pharmaceutical and textile industries in 2019. The Director General of the Chemical, Textile and Multifarious Industries (IKTA) of the Ministry of Industry Achmad Sigit Dwiwahjono said he was optimistic that the target could be achieved.

According to him, there are already several investors who are interested in expanding in the upstream chemical industry. "For example, from South Korea, it is still in the discussion stage," he was quoted as saying on the Ministry of Industry website.

Achmad said the discussion was a follow-up of investments that had been entered yesterday. Some time ago, a number of investments in the chemical industry have entered.

One of the investments is in the form of building a petrochemical industry to produce naphta crackers in Cilegon. The investment comes from the commitment of PT Lotte Chemical Indonesia, which poured funds of US $ 3.5 billion.

The investment is expected to produce 2 million tons of naphtha crackers per year. In addition, investment also came from PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical.

They inject funds of up to US $ 5.4 billion, of which are used to produce 2.5 million tons of naphta crackers per year.
