The textile entrepreneurs are ready to enter the four-state market of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) this year, after the government completes the Indonesia-EFTA Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IE-CEPA) negotiations, December 2018.

The four EFTA countries are Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Norway.

Chairperson of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Ade Sudrajat said employers began to confidently enter the European market and it was hoped that exports of textiles and textile products (TPT) would also be lifted. The four EFTA countries are developing countries and promising markets.

"So far, we have difficulty entering Europe, but with CEPA with EFTA it will provide convenience to enter the area, even though it is only four countries," he told Investor Daily in Jakarta, Sunday (3/2).

He said, the main market for Indonesian textile exports is still the United States and ASEAN. This year, TPT exports are targeted to reach US $ 15 billion, up from US $ 13.8 billion last year.

On the other hand, Ade said, this year, imported products had begun to decline in the domestic market, because the government issued an import control policy.

He hopes that this policy will be maintained because it can hoist the market share of local products in the domestic market, which is now only 30% of the total market of US $ 10 billion.

Pebisnis TPT Siap Genjot Ekspor ke Negara EFTA

Para pelaku usaha tekstil siap memasuki pasar empat negara Asosiasi Perdagangan Bebas Eropa (EFTA) tahun ini, setelah pemerintah menuntaskan perundingan Indonesia- EFTA Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IE-CEPA), Desember 2018.

Tahun ini, ekspor TPT ditargetkan mencapai US$ 15 miliar, naik dari tahun lalu US$ 13,8 miliar.
