West Java Textile Industry Declines PDF Print E-mail

The textile and textile products industry in West Java has deteriorated. This was triggered by high worker wages, competition with imported products, to the potential cost of waste management.

 

Based on data from the West Java Manpower and Transmigration Office in 2018, 19 textile and textile products (TPT) industries were closed due to high operational costs.

 

While nine other companies were relocated. Five companies relocated to Central Java. The other three companies moved to Garut and Majalengka whose lower city / district (UMK) minimum wages.

 

At least 24,000 people lost their jobs. Data released by the West Java Statistics Agency 2018 stated that the number of textile and apparel industries in West Java was 1,880 units until 2015.

 

"The textile industry in West Java is being disturbed. The main cause of labor wages is relatively high, "said Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Jabar Jusak Sulaiman .

 

In 2019, there were three regions in West Java that had wages of more than Rp. 4 million. Karawang Regency is the highest, Rp. 4.23 million. While the highest wages in Central Java were recorded in the city of Semarang, Rp. 2.49 million.

 

"With the difference in wages above Rp. 1 million, it is more profitable to move the industry to Central Java," he said. Jusak gave an example, if the industry had 1,000 workers, with a difference of Rp 1 million in wages, entrepreneurs could save Rp 1 billion per month or Rp 12 billion per year. The fund could potentially build a new factory.

 

 

Industri Tekstil Jawa Barat Terpuruk

 

 

Industri tekstil dan produk tekstil di Jawa Barat terpuruk. Hal itu dipicu upah pekerja yang tinggi, persaingan dengan produk impor, hingga potensi beban biaya pengelolaan limbah.

 

Berdasarkan data Dinas Tenaga Kerja dan Transmigrasi Jabar tahun 2018, sebanyak 19 industri tekstil dan produk tekstil (TPT) tutup akibat tingginya biaya operasionalisasi.

 

Sementara sembilan perusahaan lainnya direlokasi. Lima perusahaan direlokasi ke Jawa Tengah. Adapun tiga perusahaan lainnya pindah ke Garut dan Majalengka yang upah minimum kota/kabupaten (UMK)-nya lebih rendah.

 

Sedikitnya 24.000 orang kehilangan pekerjaan. Data yang dirilis Badan Pusat Statistik Jabar 2018 menyebutkan jumlah industri tekstil dan pakaian jadi di Jabar sebanyak 1.880 unit hingga tahun 2015.

 

”Industri TPT di Jabar tengah terganggu. Penyebab utamanya upah tenaga kerja yang relatif tinggi,” ungkap Ketua Asosiasi Pertekstilan Indonesia (API) Jabar Jusak Sulaiman.

 

Pada 2019, ada tiga daerah di Jabar yang memiliki upah lebih dari Rp 4 juta. Kabupaten Karawang adalah yang tertinggi, Rp 4,23 juta. Sementara upah tertinggi di Jateng tercatat di Kota Semarang, Rp 2,49 juta.

 

”Dengan selisih upah di atas Rp 1 juta saja lebih menguntungkan memindahkan industri ke Jateng,” ucapnya. Jusak mencontohkan, jika industri mempunyai 1.000 pekerja, dengan selisih upah Rp 1 juta, pengusaha dapat menghemat Rp 1 miliar per bulan atau Rp 12 miliar per tahun. Dana itu berpotensi bisa membangun pabrik baru.
