The textile industry is one of the potential sectors to grow the economy in Indonesia. However, the industry must be supported by human resources (HR) and technology so that Indonesia will become increasingly attractive as a country whose manufacturing industry contributes more than 10% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). One effort to support the development of the textile industry is by organizing the Indonesia Apparel Production Expo (IAPE) 2019 at the Diamond Convention Center.

Deputy Chairperson of the Central Java Indonesian Textile Association (API), Lilik Setiawan, said that the manufacturing industry was in the top 10 as an economic support industry in Indonesia. However, this must be supported by strong HR and increasingly up-to-date technology support. "Other countries in Asia continue to pursue us. So from that, how to make the industry grow so that it gives a big contribution to the country, "he said.

The Ministry of Industry in the 2018 Industry Development Analysis calls for relatively high growth in the textile and apparel industries. In the third quarter of 2018 it was recorded at 10.17% (year on year). This growth is an increase from growth of 6.39% (yoy) in the second quarter of 2018. The high growth in the textile and apparel industry group was due to an increase in growth, both in the textile industry and in the apparel industry.

Meanwhile, based on data released by the United Nations Statistics Division in 2016, Indonesia is ranked fourth in the world of 15 countries whose manufacturing industry contributes more than 10% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Indonesia was able to contribute up to 22% after South Korea (29%), China (27%), and Germany (23%). "This exhibition is one way to boost the manufacturing industry sector. Not only for industry players, but also for the wider community so as to provide a multi player effect to all parties, "he added.

The Director of More Media as the organizer of the IAEP exhibition, Aulian Suhandika, added that the exhibition featured the garment machinery industry, screen printing, and the latest digital textile printing. According to him, currently it is closely related to the creative economy so that one of the objectives of the exhibition is to encourage the progress of the creative economy sector. "Foreign exchange contributors other than the non-oil and gas sector are the creative industries. Of the 16 sub-sectors of the creative economy that contributed the most were the fashion industry. In addition, the exhibition was chosen because until now the most effective promotion was the exhibition. Indeed, online promotion is also good, but in business to business matters direct interaction is very important, "he said.

Julian stated that the clothing industry in Soloraya is also very promising. According to him, in several cities where the exhibition of the Indonesia Apparel Production Expo this industry grew significantly. For example, the screen printing and fashion business.

Pada triwulan III 2018 tercatat sebesar 10,17% (year on year).
