Indonesia and Australia formally collaborate with the Comprehensive Economic Partnership after the signing of the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA). The free trade agreement provides easy market access between the two countries.

The Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita revealed some of benefits that Indonesia has obtained after the free trade agreement was carried out. One of the advantages is the abolition of import duties on all Australian tariff posts to zero percent.

The Australian Government has freed 100 percent of import duties for several Indonesian products. Then vice versa, Indonesia will also free 94 percent of import duty on Australian products.

Minister Enggar revealed that Indonesian products that have the potential to increase exports are automotive products, especially electric and hybrid cars. In this case the IA-CEPA provides qualification requirements for local content (QVC) which are easier for electric and hybrid vehicles from Indonesia than other countries.

In addition, Indonesian products that have the potential to increase exports include timber and derivatives including furniture, textiles and textile products, tires, communication equipment, medicines, machinery, and electronic equipment.

Then, other benefits also exist in the service trade sector. Through the IA-CEPA, Indonesia will gain access to the services trade market in Australia. For example, the increase in the quota for work and holiday visas, which is from 1000 visas to 4100 visas in the first year of IA-CEPA implementation and will increase by 5 percent in the following years.

In addition, Indonesia will also get various programs to improve the quality of human resources such as apprenticeship programs that are based on the needs of the Indonesian industrial and economic sectors that are directly related to Australian investment in the vocational education sector.

Keuntungan Perdagangan Bebas Indonesia-Australia
