Textile industry's Response Related to Exemption of Indonesia-Australia Trade Tariffs PDF Print E-mail

After nine years of negotiations, Indonesia and Australia officially signed the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA) free trade agreement.

 

Gradually, the agreement will eliminate 100% tariff posts from Australia or Indonesian goods to Australia and 94% from Indonesian tariff posts or Australian goods to Indonesia. The abolition of the tariff covers several sectors including the textile sector.

 

Joy Citra Dewi, Corporate Secretary of PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (SRIL), which is one of the companies engaged in the textile sector, welcomed the policy because it was considered to increase export capacity.

 

According to Joy, so far exports to Australia are still relatively small, of which 4% of total SRIL exports come from UAE, Africa and Australia exports.

 

This is predicted, Joy continued because the Australian market is seen as quite potential. PT Pan Brother Tbk, which is also a company engaged in the textile business, also welcomed the policy positively. "Of course this is very positive. This will make us equal where all brands will add orders to Indonesia for Australia," Iswar Deni, Corporate Secretary of PT Pan Brothers Tbk (PBRX).

 

According to Iswar, for the Australian market, PBRX is trusted by the New Zealand brand Kathmandhu to supply products 3 years ago.

 

While asked about the export capacity, unfortunately Iswar was reluctant to open up. "Australia is not a big market. So it is still below the US and Europe, but with this policy it is expected that there will be growth," he said.

 

Just for information, said Iswar TPT Indonesia to Australia in 2018 and around 306.4 million and in 2019 this may increase by 20% - 30% and is expected to continue to increase every year.

 

 

Tanggapan industri tekstil terkait pembebasan tarif perdagangan Indonesia-Australia

 

 

Setelah sembilan tahun negosiasi, Indonesia dan Australia resmi meneken perjanjian perdagangan bebas Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA) pada Senin (4/3).

 

Secara bertahap, perjanjian tersebut akan menghilangkan 100% pos tarif dari Australia atau barang Indonesia ke Australia dan 94% dari pos tarif Indonesia atau barang Australia ke Indonesia. Adapun penghapusan tarif tersebut mencakup beberapa sektor termasuk sektor tekstil.

 

Joy Citra Dewi, Corporate Secretary PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (SRIL) yang merupakan salah satu perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang tekstil menyembut baik kebijakan tersebut karena dinilai akan meningkatkan kapasitas ekspor.

 

Menurut Joy, selama ini ekspor ke Australia masih tergolong kecil, dimana 4% dari total keseluruhan ekspor SRIL berasal dari ekspor UAE, Afrika dan Australia.

 

Hal tersebut diprediksi, lanjut Joy karena pasar Australia dipandang cukup potensial. PT Pan Brother Tbk yang juga merupakan perusahaan yang bergerak di bisnis tekstil juga menyambut positif kebijakan tersebut. "Tentu ini sangat positif. Ini akan menjadikan kita setara dimana semua brands akan menambah order ke Indonesia untuk tujuan Australia," Iswar Deni, Sekretaris Perusahaan PT Pan Brothers Tbk (PBRX).

 

Menurut Iswar, untuk pasar Australia, PBRX sendiri dipercaya Kathmandhu brand New Zealand untuk memasok produk sejak 3 tahun lalu.

 

Sementara ditanya soal kapasitas ekspor, sayangnya Iswar enggan buka-bukaan. "Australia kan marketnya tidak besar. Jadi masih dibawah US dan Eropa, namun dengan adanya kebijakan ini diharapkan ada pertumbuhan," tuturnya.

 

Sekedar informasi saja, kata Iswar TPT Indonesia ke Australia tahun 2018 lalu sekitar 306.4 juta dan tahun 2019 ini mungkin naik 20%- 30 % dan diharapkan bisa terus naik di setiap tahunnya.
