The government continues to make strategic policies to further create a conducive investment climate. One of these efforts is aimed at making industry players already existing in Indonesia more active in expanding and attracting many new investors.

The Minister of Industry revealed, , it had a meeting with more than 100 industry players in Banten Province. This activity bridges entrepreneurs to provide input to the government to find solutions to improve national industry competitiveness.

According to him, the Ministry of Industry is focusing on boosting investment in the five priority sectors in Making Indonesia 4.0, namely the food and beverage industry, textile and clothing, automotive, chemical and electronics. The industry was chosen because of its very fast growth, but other sectors were also encouraged such as the pulp and paper and steel industries

"In fact, with the trade war between the United States and China, it can open opportunities for the entry of manufacturing investment in Indonesia. Some textile, clothing and footwear industries are considering moving factories from China to Indonesia, "he said.

One of the existing footwear industries in the Banten region is PT KMK Global Sport in the Cikupa Mas Industrial Zone, Tangerang Regency. The company that produces Nike and Converse shoes is capable of producing 1.5 million pairs of shoes every month and absorbs a workforce of 15,655 people.

The government continues to seek policies that accommodate the footwear industry in Indonesia in increasing its production capacity so that it can meet domestic needs while filling the export market. The government is optimistic that there will be an increase in exports of national footwear products to USD6.5 billion in 2019 and to USD10 billion in the next four years. Moreover, Indonesia has signed a CEPA with Australia and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

The Ministry of Industry also appreciates PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk. and PT. Lotte Chemical Indonesia, which has realized its investment in Cilegon, by increasing national capacity, especially naphtha cracker-based chemical raw materials to meet domestic and export market needs. This will strengthen the development of the domestic petrochemical industry.

"Banten is one of the regions that has a strategic industrial area, because it has a number of sectors of mother of industry such as steel and chemical companies," he said. The existence of these sectors is considered to have an important role in strengthening and deepening the structure of the domestic manufacturing industry so that it can be competitive in the global arena.

"In Banten, the manufacturing industry sector can contribute up to 40 percent of regional income. This is one of them donated from a cluster in Cilegon, "he added. Throughout 2018, Banten's economy grew quite well, which until the third quarter reached 5.76 percent with an annual growth rate of 5.89 percent (yoy).

In order to maintain the sustainability of investments, especially in the industrial sector, the government's steps include providing business licensing, maintaining the availability of raw materials, and preparing skilled Human Resources (HR) through vocational education and training.

"We hope that the ease of investment can be a multiplier effect on industrialization activities, especially in terms of increasing employment. "This encourages the creation of equitable development and inclusive economic growth," said Airlangga.

Pemerintah Jaga Keberlangsungan Investasi Sektor Industri
