Indonesia is considered to have a Clothing Resilience Act to protect the national textile and textile products industry.

Suharno Rusdi, Chairperson of the Association of All Indonesian Textiles Experts (Ikatsi), said that the composition of imports that was large enough made the growth of the textile industry slumped and it was difficult to compete both at home and abroad.

He said that in the last 10 years, export growth was less than 3%, while import growth reached more than 20% on an annual basis.

"To protect the domestic market and improve the competitiveness of the textile industry, Indonesia should have a Clothing Resilience Law. This law will regulate not only imports of TPT and the like, but also regulate various incentives and other rules so that the development of the textile industry is carried out sustainably. "he said.

According to him, the existence of the law was very urgent for the country's textile industry. Therefore, he stressed that the Institute would fight for this.

Furthermore, Suharno stated that currently  national textile industry is in the worst condition because market is filled with imported goods at very cheap prices.

"If this is allowed to go on, it will seriously end future of the national textile industry because we are increasingly dependent on imports and domestic industries will continue to lose their markets," he said.

Meanwhile, during the past year imports of textile products were recorded at US $ 7.81 billion or grew 12.17% y-o-y from US $ 6.96 billion.

Indonesia Harusnya Punya UU Ketahanan Sandang

Adapun, sepanjang tahun lalu impor produk tekstil tercatat senilai US$7,81 miliar atau tumbuh 12,17% y-o-y dari US$6,96 miliar.
