The Chairman of the IFCC (Indonesian Forestry Certification Cooperation) Dradjad Wibowo said, Indonesia was time to develop sustainable fashion. Rayon jc textile material is suitable for sustainable fashion because it is easily recycled.

He said, one of the textile raw materials is rayon or viscose, a cellulose material obtained from wood pulp fiber. "Currently rayon contributes 12% of the national textile and textile products (TPT), 51% polyester and 37% cotton," said Dradjad, in the seminar on the Indonesian Textile Association (API) "Sustainable Manufacturing and Fashion Trend Analysis", at JI Expo Kemayoran, Jakarta.

Rayon, according to Dradjad, has the advantage of being comfortable and comfortable to wear. Both indoor and outdoor. Rayon is also suitable for Sustainable Fashion because it is easily recycled. The raw material can also be taken from sustainably managed industrial plantations (HTI).

Dradjad, who is also a member of Wanhor PAN, added that at the beginning of 2019 there were 3.9 million hectares of HTI that had been certified as sustainable in Indonesia. The certificate is from IFCC, which is part of the PEFC based in Geneva.

PEFC is the largest sustainable forest certification scheme in the world. Currently around the world there are 309 million hectares of PEFC certified forests, with over 750 thousand forest owners and almost 21,000 forest product processing companies.

The PECF certificate, said Dradjad, has been used by various multinational companies and world-famous brands. One of the largest airlines in Asia also uses IFCC / PEFC certificates.

In the seminar attended by TPT and fashion players from Asia and Europe, Dradjad encouraged them to use rayon originating from sustainable forests. Moreover, Indonesia already has a large IFCC / PEFC certified rayon producing plant, namely the Asia Pacific Rayon (APR), with a capacity of 250 thousand tons per year.

"Sustainable fashion can help Indonesian fashion brands penetrate the world market," said Dradjad. This is because, a number of global retailers have begun to apply the terms Sustainable Fashion or Ethical Fashion.

Dradjad reminded, Indonesian people as consumers of fashion products actually have power. They can choose to spend money on products that are environmentally friendly or destructive. "The Indonesian people can play an active role in overcoming climate change by shopping for environmentally friendly products, especially Sustainable Fashion products," added Dradjad.
