Independent with Fiber Viscose Rayon PDF Print E-mail

The Ministry of Industry has set Textiles and Textile Products (TPT) as one of the five priority industrial sectors. However, the raw materials needed to strengthen the industry cannot fully rely on domestic resources. The Indonesian Textile Association (API) estimates that 99% of cotton used domestically is actually obtained by import.

As an illustration, the trend of cotton imports in 2017 showed a considerable value, namely 1,327 billion dollars. Considering the market demand for textile products is very high, while at the same time cotton is difficult to produce in this country, the presence of viscose rayon fibers should be the solution.

"Viscose fibers mixed with polyester as men's clothing, for example, superior because they are highly absorbent, soft in hand, have bright colors, and resistant to resin processing," explained the API, about the reason why viscose rayon fibers are important and suitable to use.

The Ministry of Industry calls domestic viscose rayon fiber production capacity to continue to increase from 8.7% of total world production in 2004 to 11% of total world production in 2017. And that number will continue to increase along with the presence of the Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) earlier last year.

"With the operation of the APR which produces 240 thousand tons of viscose rayon fiber and 80 thousand tons of PT RUM, the total national production capacity of rayon fiber will be 856 thousand tons per year," said Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartanto.

For information, the current national production capacity of viscose rayon fiber is 536 thousand tons per year. "As a pioneer company that develops the textile industry that is not only textile-oriented for clothing, we also see APRs are more oriented towards fashion needs and continue to develop viscose rayon fibers for technical textile needs," he added.

APR Director Basrie Kamba said, APR, which began operations earlier this year with a production capacity of 240,000 tons of viscose rayon fiber per year, was the first integrated producer of viscose rayon fibers in Asia with traceable and traceable raw material sources.

The above explanations should have made this nation brave to keep its head remembering — at least since the Cultivation period until now — everything that is able to grow in Indonesia seems endless. "We believe the results of APR viscose fiber production can encourage Indonesian textile exports. Furthermore, we are optimistic that the APR can also provide more value to the Indonesian creative economy industry," he explained.
