After Argentina, Indonesia continues the diplomacy of economic cooperation with business people and the Government of Chile. Indonesia, represented by the Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita, will also attend  meeting of the Ministers of Trade in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum or APEC MRT in Vina Del Mar, Chile.

The economic cooperation between Indonesia and Chile will be concrete with  trade mission and strengthening of the network of business actors of both countries. This was in order to implement the Indonesia-Chile Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (IC-CEPA).

In the 2019 APEC MRT forum, Indonesia will also discuss four APEC priorities. The four priorities are digital society, inclusive growth for women and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), sustainable growth, and integration 4.0. Both agendas took place on 15-18 May 2019.

Enggartiasto, Wednesday (05/15/2019) morning local time, in Santiago, Chile, said, IC-CEPA was signed on December 14, 2017. Implementation of this agreement is expected to take effect in August 2019 after the ratification process is complete.

"Through this visit, Indonesia wants to strengthen collaboration with Chile so that the two countries can take full advantage of IC-CEPA. In addition to discussing the opportunities that will be obtained, we will also discuss the challenges that might arise in the implementation, "he said.

Enggartiasto is optimistic, the second trade will increase again. Because, IC-CEPA opens opportunities for both countries to increase trade in goods, services, investments and other economic cooperation.

"In the trade sector, Indonesia's textile, footwear, automotive and palm oil products will be able to enter Chile at zero percent. On the other hand, Chile can export fruit products, "he continued.
