The Deceleration of Manufacturing is Felt by Textile Industry PDF Print E-mail

Indonesia's manufacturing index slowed in June 2019. The slowdown in the manufacturing industry was also felt by the textile industry.

IHS Markit reports Indonesia's Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) data for the June 2019 period at the level of 50.6. This figure fell compared to the previous month at 51.6.

Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association (API), Ade Sudrajat Usman, admitted that the sales of the textile industry had dropped in the past month. Even the slowdown in demand has been felt since May 2019. "From May when Ramadan has been felt, automatically in June the sale of Lebaran will decrease," said Ade

Furthermore, Ade said, the decline in textile sales was due to the inclusion of quite a large number of imported textile products, which eroded sales of domestic textile entrepreneurs.

In terms of textile production also get constraints. Ade said, this year's Lebaran holiday was longer than last year. This long holiday can harm the company. Because, bank interest payments continue to run, while operational activities are inefficient and effective.

Ade has not been able to specify the report on the sales of the textile industry in June. To be sure, sales declined because demand also fell.
