The management of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) encourages the textile industry and the Indonesian Workers (TKI) sector to be the main support for Indonesia's economic growth going forward.

This was revealed by Kadin Chairman Rosan Perkasa Roeslani after meeting with President Joko Widodo at the Merdeka palace. The proposal was aimed at reducing the current account deficit (CAD). "First we say that actually this is a little out of the box, that is TKI," Rosan said at the presidential palace complex.

TKI reaches 3.6 million people. However, the remittance is still small, only around US $ 11 billion. This figure is still too small when compared to the remittances of migrant workers in the Philippines. The rimitence of Indonesian migrant workers in the Philippines reached US $ 33 billion from the number of TK of almost 3.5 million.

One of the distinguishing factors is the quality of the workforce. Rosan said that foreign language skills that are still low affect the income of migrant workers. "So it can be encouraged by the vocational program that is being pushed by the president," Rosan explained.

Second, the sector that needs to be pushed for the next 5 years is tourism. The development of Indonesia's tourism industry needs to be accelerated.

In the Southeast Asia region, Indonesia has lost compared to Thailand. Thai foreign exchange from the tourism sector amounted to US $ 62 billion from 38 million tourists while Indonesia's foreign exchange was US $ 17 billion from nearly 15.5 million tourists. "So the average spending and average stays are also longer," Rosan explained.

The third sector that was asked to be boosted by Rosan was textile. In the midst of the trade war of the United States (US) and China, the textile industry could become a sector that was encouraged to grow.

The growth of the textile industry experienced a surge of 25% to 30% this year. Rosan said that the opportunity needed to be immediately utilized by Indonesia.
