It's no secret that workers in the textile or clothing industry give very low levels of labor in many developing countries. A report by the University of New York's Center for Business and Human Rights analyzed the situation with a particular focus on the fastest growing African economy, Ethiopia.

In a push to attract foreign investment, Ethiopia has promoted the lowest base wages in clothing-producing countries, which is only USD 26 per month.

Quoting Statista, the most famous clothing brands in the world including H & M and PVH employ thousands of workers in Ethiopia.

The report found that although Ethiopian leaders have always wanted to showcase projects such as Hawassa Industrial Park 225 kilometers south of Addis Adaba, the harsh reality is that Ethiopian textile workers cannot support their families.

Apart from Ethiopia, the country which also pays textile workers with small wages is Bangladesh and Myanmar at a price of USD 95.

In Vietnam and Cambodia, workers in the garment sector are paid USD 180 and USD 182 per month while in China, the fee reaches USD 326.

Of all the countries in the report, Turkey ranks 14 low wages and has the highest monthly minimum wage for garment workers at USD 340. Meanwhile, Indonesia ranks 11th with a wage of USD 280.

The following is a complete list of the 14 lowest textile wage countries in the world with the assumption that the exchange rate is IDR 14,297 per USD:
