Batik Soemirah was born 10 years ago after Kelik who was also an artist and initiator of various fashion show events came home from training.

Natural textile dyes are proven to be able to make Batik Soemirah loved by foreigners. Kelik Soebarjo, the owner of this batik business, is proud of this traditional Indonesian cloth as a souvenir for foreign tourists

Indonesia Rich in Natural Texture Dyes

Various colors for the Soemirah Batik motif are not suddenly obtained by Kelik. He diligently looks for natural ingredients such as plant parts to try. Even though he had found the color, he had to test it first for its durability or strength.

Kelik does not want the natural textiles to wear off quickly. It is usual for him to trial and error before launching new colors for the Soemirah Batik motif.

He claimed to be grateful to live in Indonesia. Because in the land of this country gave birth to a variety of plants that contain dyes. If you keep looking, he is sure there are still many natural ingredients that have other dyes.

"Not that I don't use chemical dyes at all, only very little comparison. I am more challenged to use natural textile dyes, "he said.

Unique Batik Motif

Kelik is a batik artist, but also a painter. Because of that, the batik expolation is increasingly becoming. In fact, he can make something for other people to become the motif of Batik Soemirah.

Some of his batik motifs are also known to be eccentric. "This is the motive for “Kupat Tahu”, this is a senerek motif. Senerek is the name for red beans in Magelang, that is the Borobudur stupa, "explained Kelik showing his batik collection.

He was never afraid to create batik motifs that were unusual because of him the big name of batik. It is precisely for collectors, they will hunt for unusual batik motifs, not easily found on the market.

"I tried to bring up the local fragility of this area (Megalang). Indonesia has many areas with the wisdom of their respective locations, "he continued.

Kelik is also proud that the regional batik makers in Indonesia have raised local wisdom for their work. Indirectly this makes the collection of archipelago batik motifs increasingly complete.

Superior with Natural Textile Dyes

Still maintaining natural-based coloring materials, Kelik also received an order which he forgot about the amount. Uniquely, even if he only ordered one sheet of batik, he would do it.

Usually those who order like this ask him to design batik motifs according to the wishes of consumers. For services to design a batik motif, he charges Rp250 thousand.

Asked for his opinion the difference between natural and synthetic dyes (chemistry) Kelik replied that both had their advantages and disadvantages.

To be sure, he said, natural dyes are safer for health. Although to get a thick color he must need a lot of natural ingredients. Unlike chemical dyes, it is more practical and economical. The number of colors can also be made in many variants.

Based on this, Kelik always asks firsthand the wishes of the buyer or consumer. He also explained completely if anyone consulted before ordering or buying Batik Soemirah.
