Increasing productivity of textile industry, Bank Indonesia Tasikmalaya Representative Office held sewing training at Al Ma’rufi Cibeuti Kawalu Vocational School, Tasikmalaya City. This training targets 30 tailors. They are trained to produce high-quality and globally competitive textile products.

Head of KPw Bank Indonesia Tasikmalaya Heru Saptaji said, in the current era of globalization, industry must be encouraged to increase productivity and competitiveness so that it is able to meet domestic and international market demands.

"One of the efforts to encourage industrial performance is by improving the quality of reliable and skilled human resources (HR)," he said.

He continued, one of the potential local potentials of exports is textile products in the Kawalu area of Tasikmalaya City. "Export opportunities in the textile sector are wide open. Textile products can be exported to Europe and Asia, "he said.

The sewing training is expected to be able to meet the needs of competent and skilled workers in the textile sector. "So that it can encourage the productivity of the local textile industry in exporting," he said.

He explained, this training participant was a young generation of SMK graduates. They will be trained by reliable instructors from Al Ma'ufufi Vocational School for 3 months, consisting of 16 times mentoring and 8 practice lessons at PT Tjiwulan Putra Mandiri in Tasikmalaya.

The trained HR will later be absorbed by PT Tjiwulan Putra Mandiri Tasikmalaya. They will play a role in increasing textile production capacity. "The addition of 30 HR will produce 550 textile products per day with a product selling price of Rp 80 thousand per piece. So productivity in a month can generate turnover of around Rp. 1 billion, "he said.

In the future, there will be vocational training for craftsmen from the embroidery sector who are currently having difficulty regenerating.

Head of Kawalu Subdistrict, Rusani Jaelani, said that the training facilitated by BI could produce skilled workers and create new entrepreneurs in Kawalu Sub-District.

"This training is a breakthrough in giving birth to skilled labor that can stimulate the regional economy," he said.

He continued, embroidery crafts and textile products from Kawalu have the potential to go international. "Especially with HR training, it certainly can boost regional potential," he said.

Deputy Head of Al Maufufi Vocational School in Curriculum Field, Iman Sandisi MPdI, said that in his school there was a major in fashion. The sewing training from BI can improve the competence of the young generation's expertise.
