The roadmap for increasing textile trade and investment in Indonesia to the United States (US) is needed to achieve  trade value target of US $ 60 billion in the next 5 years.

Until now, the total trade value between Indonesia and the US is close to US $ 30 billion. Especially for exports of textiles and textile products, the value touched US $ 4.5 billion.

To support  textile trade of the  countries, the Indonesian Embassy in Washington DC and the Indonesian Textile Association (API) held a "Roundtable Meeting on Building Synergy of Textile and Cotton Sectors"

The Indonesian Ambassador to the United States, Mahendra Siregar welcomed the meeting as a concrete step to improve relations between Indonesia and the US.

"For this reason, a roadmap is needed that clearly reflects the benefits of the two countries," he said

Deputy Chairperson of the API Daily Management Board Anne Patricia Sutanto said that this commitment must be followed up by exploring the opportunities that exist.

"I see there are still many opportunities that can be utilized if they see their potential," he said.

Anne continued that concrete and mutually beneficial efforts are needed to continue to explore opportunities by directly involving the business sectors of the two countries engaged in this field.
