Sritex Hope Indonesian Textile Industry Needs to be Protected PDF Print E-mail

PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (Sritex) President Director Iwan Setiawan Lukminto assessed, there needs to be action to protect the textile industry in Indonesia. He said this when talking about the future of the Indonesian textile industry.

"In the future, what we must protect is the total textile business in Indonesia," said Iwan. According to him, there are two reasons why the Indonesian textile industry must be protected. First, the industry is used by various countries to boost economic growth.

The textile industry, said Iwan, is the fastest industry in terms of investment realization. Besides being fast in building factories, employment in the textile industry is also a lot.

Therefore, the textile industry is made a "machine" to boost economic growth through production and employment.

Meanwhile, the products produced by the textile industry are not only used for domestic interests, but also exported to various countries. Indonesia could be a large market for these products.

Secondly, Iwan assessed that Indonesia's textile industry needs to be protected because a number of countries have adopted a command economic model. This is considered to make it difficult for Indonesia to compete in terms of facilitating investment for businesses in the textile industry.
