The national Textile and textile products (TPT) industry is increasingly competitive amid global fierce competition. Even the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenperin) this sector grew the highest in 2019.

Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), in the second quarter of 2019, the textile and apparel industry as the highest growing manufacturing sector reached 20.71%.

The growth of large and medium manufacturing industry (IBS) in the same period rose to 3.62 percent (y-on-y) in the second quarter of 2018 because one of them was caused by the surge in the production of the apparel industry by 25.79%.

"The performance of the national textile industry exports in the last three years continues to climb. In 2016 it stood at USD11.87 billion, then in 2017 it touched up to USD12.59 billion with a surplus of USD5 billion. This positive trend continues until 2018 with an export value of USD13.27 billion, "said the Head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) of the Ministry of Industry Eko S.A. Cahyanto in Jakarta.

Eko also emphasized that his party is committed to increasing the role of the industrial vocational education unit within the Ministry of Industry in supplying competent workforce so that it can spur the performance of the productive, innovative and competitive manufacturing sector.

This step requires collaboration with stakeholders such as relevant ministries, associations and industry players, and academics.

"The Ministry of Industry has a vision in 2035, Indonesia will become a strong industrial country. Therefore, we need to equip industrial human resources with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes and behaviors, so that they have the character of an industrial culture to become superior human resources, "he explained.
