Deputy Chairman of the National Economic and Industrial Committee (KEIN) Arif Budimanta rate, the textile industry in Indonesia is growing above average. "Our textile industry is still growing and the growth is arguably above the average national economic growth," Arif said in a discussion in Jakarta.

According to Arif, with the consistency of growth, the textile industry sector contributed a fairly large contribution to gross domestic product (GDP). In fact the figure can reach around 1 to 1.2 percent. "Although there is a tendency for the percentage to decrease slightly, it is still around. It is still relatively stable," he said.

Arif said, despite good growth, in the future the challenges in this sector are increasingly diverse and must be addressed wisely. Moreover, already developed an automation system, and increasingly efficient technology.

"The challenge going forward is in the context of the cost of production. So then efficiency outside of raw materials for the benefit of textiles must be done," he added. He said, as for the way to manage the cost of production is to do the cost of logistics that must be more efficient.

Indeed, this has been realized slowly by building government infrastructure. "Then the energy price must also be suppressed again so that we can compete. Not only to meet domestic needs, but also for exports and foreign exchange," he explained.

"Then the trade policy. Even if we are related to the FTA or CEPA, we must put textiles in a framework to protect the national industry. Because this involves a large workforce," he added.
