The Ministry of Trade will revise the regulation governing the import provisions of textiles and textile products (TPT) in order to prevent misapplication of import licenses which harm the country. The Director General of Foreign Trade of the Indrasari Ministry of Trade Wisnu Wardhana said the revised regulation was revised Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) No. 64/2017 concerning TPT import provisions.

"Based on our meeting with Customs and the Ministry of Industry, and API [Indonesian Textile Association], we will revise Permendag 64," Wisnu said at the Ministry of Trade.

One of the things to be revised in the regulation is appendixes A and B. In the appendix it is stated that the TPT import provisions do not have to be with an import approval scheme (PI).

Going forward, all TPT import provisions must go through PI. In addition to revising the rules regarding the import of government TPT, the government will form a special task force formed by three ministries to directly oversee import TPT consisting of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, the Directorate General of Taxes, the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Trade.

"We will form a special task force, we will carry out the effectiveness of supervision. We also invite API to participate in overseeing import TPT," explained Wisnu.

The government's decision to revise Permendag No. 64/2017 due to findings of misapplication in the field. The government found that there was one producer who misused the import identification number (API) function and sold imported textile products to other producers. In fact, producers who get APIs are only allowed to import with the aim to be processed and then exported.

"We have conducted surveillance, but we will synergize through supervision of nearly 21 APIP [Producer Import Identification Numbers] and APIU [Producer Import Identification Numbers] and today we have revoked 1 permit from APIP because the APIP turned out to transfer imported raw materials , "said Vishnu.
