Yogyakarta Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) officially opened the Textile Engineering Study Program (Strata 1). Higher Education Service Institution (LL Dikti) V DIY has submitted a decree (SK) Kemenristek Dikti regarding the establishment of a textile engineering study program to UII, in the public lecture building (GKU) Dr. Sardjito, UII integrated campus, Jalan Kaliurang Km 14.5 Ngaglik, Sleman .

The head of the opening team of the UII S1 Textile Engineering Study Program, Suharno Rusli, mentioned a number of reasons for the opening of this study program. Among them is the fact that the demand for labor in the textile and textile products (TPT) sector continues to increase, with 2019 workers absorbed by the national textile industry recorded at 3.73 million people, or around 20.47% of the total workforce in the manufacturing sector.

That number is the second rank after the food and beverage industry and with the Making Indonesia 4.0 program in 2030 launched by the Jokowi Government, the need for labor in the national textile industry sector in 2030 will reach double from now.

For this reason, UII Textile Engineering Study Program will commit and try their best to prepare the teaching and learning process in order to create graduates who are able to compete in the era of global competition.

Among them, the UII Textile Engineering Study Program curriculum was designed with reference to the Indonesian National Qualification Framework (KKNI) and High Education National Standards (SN Dikti) and in accordance with the standard ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology American) curriculum with Modern thought formats to answer market demands work in the industrial revolution era 4.0.

In addition, students will not only study within the scope of a class or laboratory but will also be invited to study outside the campus, both in the form of field trips, student exchanges abroad, and in the form of internship in the relevant industrial sectors. "Therefore students will be motivated to continue to learn and innovate," he explained.

Chancellor Ull FathuI Wahid said, the opening of the Textile Engineering Study Program proves that UII as the oldest private tertiary institution in Indonesia, won the trust of the government to contribute in preparing human resources with competitiveness in the future. Moreover, this Textile Engineering Study Program is the first and only time in Indonesia.

Head of LL Dikti Region V DIY, Didik Achjari added that UII's step in establishing the Textile Engineering Study Program was quite encouraging, especially to support the domestic textile industry. Because despite its success, now Indonesian textiles need strong steps in order to return to being one of the leading products. Moreover, Indonesia is determined to become the largest Muslim fashion producer in the world.
