Reducing Amount of Textile Waste, H&M Launches Clothing Rental Service PDF Print E-mail

Buying clothes from well-known brands can drain your wallet, even though you will only wear it once in a while. Departing from that, H&M launched the latest service by providing a service of renting out clothing collections to customers.

Reporting from Metro UK on Sunday, December 1, 2019, the main H&M store in Stockholm, Sweden, launched a project of renting out clothing and returning it within a specified time period. This project was tested there because it has the highest number of buyers.

Although it was just a trial, this service started to attract many fans. But, the tenants cannot borrow as many clothes as they want.

H&M limits its service to only 50 clothes a month. After that, they can return or pay to keep the clothes forever (or buy them).

H&M is not just random in lending its clothing collection. First, the borrower must be a member of the H&M brand loyalty program. That is why ordinary tourists or shoppers cannot borrow their collections.

One of the goals of H&M is also to support the sustainable fashion movement, whose campaign is currently being aggressively throughout the world. You can reduce the bad risk of environmental damage from overproduction of clothing.

Then, you can save money by wearing clothes that you like without buying them at high prices. You can use it when you need it and return it when you don't have to.
