The textile and garment producer, PT Pan Brothers Tbk (PBRX) is optimistic that its export performance will remain strong amid a strengthening rupiah. As is known, the rupiah exchange rate indeed tends to experience strengthening lately.

The exchange rate of the rupiah at the Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate or Jisdor's exchange rate was recorded at Rp. 13,662 per US dollar or strengthened around 1.67% compared to the exchange rate of the rupiah on January 2, 2020, which was perched at Rp. 13,895 per dollar.

Meanwhile, export sales themselves have a dominant portion in the company's net sales. In the first nine months of 2019 alone, for example, PBRX export sales were recorded at US $ 463.85 million, equivalent to 94.03% of total sales.

Export sales are carried out by targeting the Asian, European and American markets. The clothing brands that have been used to buy PBRX garment products include Uniqlo, The North Face, Adidas, Oakley, Lacoste, Ralph Lauren, and Columbia.

Nevertheless, the issuer which is also a member of the Kompas100 index claimed to have anticipated the trend of the rupiah exchange rate movement.

Corporate Secretary of PT Pan Brothers Tbk, Iswar Deni said that the projected growth in the company's performance was made based on assumption of rupiah exchange rate in the range of Rp 13,000 - Rp 14,000 per US dollar. "So the impact is not too significant," Iswar said.

With this anticipatory action, the company is optimistic that it can record a net sales growth of 10-15 percent compared to last year this year as previously targeted.

The level of sales growth is the same as the company's sales target in 2019. Last year, the company also targeted revenue growth of 10-15 percent compared to 2018 realization of US $ 611.4 million.

That way, the company is targeting its revenue in 2019 to reach US $ 672.54 million-US $ 703.11 million.

As for the first nine months of 2019, PBRX recorded sales of US $ 491.86 million, an increase of around 10.02% when compared to sales in the same period in 2018 of US $ 447.05 million.
