Two textile industry associations namely the Indonesian Fiber and Filament Yarn Producers Association (APSYFI) representing the upstream sector and the Indonesian Textile Association (API) representing the downstream sector paid a visit to the Bisnis Indonesia Editor.

The meeting was welcomed by Bisnis Indonesia Editor in Chief Maria Benyamin. Maria said Bisnis Indonesia continued to review the development of the textile industry, from upstream to downstream.

In the discussion session, Chairperson of the Association of Indonesian Fiber and Yarn Producers (APSYFI) Ravi Shankar also considered quite happy with the performance of Bisnis Indonesia so far who always wanted to see facts and data in describing the actual condition of the industry.

"In the 1970s when I built this, I saw the high potential that exists in Indonesia while other countries such as China consider us an industrial sunset. However, there are indeed many tasks in the industry to encourage products from within the country," he said.

On the other hand, Chairman of the National Management Agency (BPN) of the Indonesian Textile Association (API), Jemmy Kartiwa Sastraatmadja, said that in the future API would be more stepping into a government partner. For this reason, the importance of media voice as a bridge so that every policy can be well communicated.

"Industry can develop if there is a market certainty. Now the certainty is not yet there, the government must support. We do not yet have a price standard," he said.
