As is known, textiles have two raw materials, namely natural fibers and artificial fibers. The most natural fiber that can be developed is cotton because it is the cheapest. In cotton-producing countries that have a 4-season climate, cotton can grow well. Like India, China, Bangladesh, Pakistan and the United States.

In addition, in the cotton-producing country, the government is involved by providing subsidies. So that Indonesia automatically has difficulty competing. The case is the same as the garlic commodity.

He admitted, the best cotton producer is currently still the United States with abundant stock. However, America does not have a large textile industry.

"Unlike China or India, they are starting to implement policies as far as possible not to sell raw material products. They do not want to sell raw materials (cotton) to Indonesia," he said.

According to Liliek, China and India are currently the countries with the largest population in the world. So that the government tries to provide employment as much as possible. So that inevitably it will touch with industrialization. So that the two countries are now not too eager to sell raw materials to other countries.

Thus, Indonesia's dependence on cotton products from America is expected to increase. Especially at this time China is shutdown due to the spread of Corona virus in the country. "This opens all of our eyes that we cannot continue to depend on China," he explained.

He predicts cases like the Corona virus will one day re-occur again. At present, cotton dependence on China has begun to be minimal. However, the problem is that China is one of Indonesia's biggest export destinations.

The United States (US) removed Indonesia and a number of other countries from the list of developing countries. In the eyes of the US, Indonesia, is considered a developed country.

Indonesian-American relations in the field of textiles are predicted to be even tighter. Especially following the policy of cotton exports in China and India, and the spread of the Corona virus.
