Traders of imported fashion products from China at the Tanah Abang Shopping Center, Central Jakarta, have not been getting new stock for several months due to temporary restrictions on the flow of imports from the "Bamboo Curtain Country". Unfortunately, the vacancy of imported products cannot be filled by local products because fashion demand is also low due to the decline in people's purchasing power.

Heni, the owner of a children's clothing store in Tanah Abang Block B, said that his shop had not received new stock of Chinese products in a few months. The stock of imported clothing fills 50 percent of the merchandise, while the other 50 percent is filled with local products, including from Tasikmalaya and Bandung.

"Local products are not far behind and production helps replenish stock. But, the problem is, the market is still quiet, "Heni said.

"Local products are not far behind and production helps replenish stock. But, the problem is, the market is still quiet, "he said.

The caretaker of the Chinese men's clothing store, Tjentjen, also said that he no longer had a stock of new goods. At present, the small shop only provides old clothing stock from the importer's warehouse. "This is an old stock, there are no more new items," Tjentjen said.

However, now Tjentjen is more concerned with the lack of purchases which ultimately reduces turnover. Turnover also complained about Lenny, owner of women's jewelry and accessory stores.

The merchandise stock, which is almost entirely imported from China, is even relatively large. In fact, one or two months before Ramadan, usually the merchandise is bought up by many buyers from the region.

"Visitors to our shop are rather lacking, especially local people who buy to sell. In fact, we expect them. If people are here, right, come when you want to go on Eid. Our turnover is down, yes, up to 50 percent, "he said.

The decline in sales of imported Chinese products was also felt by Heru as the manager of a women's handbag shop. He said, customers in the area did not make as many purchases before.
