So many cotton imports from the United States or US Cotton, the value is around 400 billion US Dollars to 500 billion US Dollars per year. According to Cotton Council International (CCI), Indonesian representative Dr. Anh Dung (Andy) Do, the best cotton in the world is the raw material for manufacturing fashion (clothing) which is then exported back to Europe and the US in particular, to fulfill buyers' orders.

He said, many textile industries in Solo and around utilizing US Cotton as raw material for clothing, such as Sritex, Dan Liris, Tyfountex, Batik Keris, Duniatex, and so on. "Of course this is good for the development of the workforce in Solo and around," said Andy Do.

This was said after the seminar of The Economics of The Mills by Rieter and Recent Discoveries about the Quality of US Cotton by CCI in collaboration with the Central Java Indonesian Textile Association (API) in Solo, Tuesday (25/2). The seminar for textile industry players in the country also presented Jagadish Gujar, Textile Technology Expert from Rieter India and Vijay Kumar, Technology Consultant from CCI.

Andy Do estimates that the change in the status of Indonesia from developing countries to developed countries by the US will not affect the two countries' textile sector. Negotiations between the two countries are crucial in the field of cotton and the textile industry which has been going very well. "Between Indonesia and America there is no problem. America wants to receive lots of goods from Indonesia. And Indonesia wants to buy a lot of US Cotton from America, "he said.

It was revealed, Indonesia and the United States had very good relations in the cotton and textile industries. Indonesia can still enjoy various export facilities such as those provided when it was still a developing country. But that depends on the negotiations between Jakarta and Washington. The Indonesian government has always been negotiating with the US. President Joko Widodo also continued to encourage garment exports from Indonesia to America.

At present, the US is in very good economic condition and many people are rich. So you can buy goods from Indonesia. Has the corona virus affected the US cotton trade? "We are still waiting for developments. If there is an airport closure, people are afraid and don't go anywhere, and people don't want to spend money to buy things, of course it will have an impact, "he answered.

Meanwhile CCI hopes that local entrepreneurs and textile factories in Indonesia can also get useful knowledge about textile technology from their experts, namely Rieter India.

"I hope, in the future CCI and API can continue to work together and collaborate to advance the players of the national industry. CCI is committed to strengthening the Indonesian textile industry and increasing the awareness of producers of the quality of US cotton and the technology used in the textile industry in Indonesia and abroad, "he said.
