Textile Entrepreneurs Will Try To Fulfill Payment Of Holiday Allowance (THR) PDF Print E-mail

Although the performance of the textile and textile product (TPT) industry has slowed down recently due to the impact of the Corona Virus alias Covid-19, Chairperson of the Indonesian Textile Association Jemmy Kartiwa said members of the association are trying to fulfill their obligations to employees, including payment of holiday allowance (THR) for the upcoming Eid.

"Regarding THR, API member companies are trying to keep the payment fulfilled," said Jemmy.

However, he hopes the government will provide various concessions requested by the industry to maintain the company's breath.

At present, said Jemmy, the operations of the associate member companies are still in full operation. Even though, in an emergency situation like today, changes and turmoil occur so fast every day.

"We will see market share, exports that have been held and may even cancel, we will see stocks and cash flow," Jemmy said.

Even in such conditions, he tried to keep his employees. "Layoffs (termination of employment) are a dilemma choice, we try to avoid layoffs."

Based on API data, the performance of the TPT industry in the last ten days experienced a somersault when compared to the previous few months. Requests began to decline sharply and a number of demand commitments were postponed or even canceled.

Jemmy sees that conditions that occur simultaneously and on a large scale will have a significant impact on the utilization and productivity of the industry from upstream to downstream. Therefore, he proposed a number of concessions.

One of the concessions requested, he said, was related to costs in the energy sector. He hopes that there will be looseness of PLN electricity payments for industry players. The leeway, he said, could be in the form of a delay in payment of electricity tariffs for the next six months with installments in the form of a 12-month current account.

"In addition, the government also gave discounts of idle load rates to 22:00 WIB until 06:00 WIB at 50 percent," said Jemmy. Still from the energy sector, he also asked the government to accelerate the decline in gas prices to US $ 6 per MMBTU starting April 2020.

Looseness is also expected to emerge from the industrial sector in the form of tariff protection for apparel, to the environmental sector in the form of revocation of fly ash, bottom ash, and B3 waste which in other countries are not categorized as hazardous waste and instead are used as raw material for brick and road layers.

"Immediately the revision of the tightening of liquid waste quality standards by taking into account the benchmark comparisons needed by other countries, including developed countries, although not as strict as those prevailing in Indonesia. This has become an additional burden for the competitiveness of domestic producers," said Jemmy.
