Textile business operators say export-oriented garment manufacturers have quickly replaced raw material suppliers due to corona outbreaks. Meanwhile, corona outbreaks also made industrial production between textiles and textile products (TPT) increase.

API Secretary General Rizal Rakhman said some export-oriented local manufacturers had quickly replaced the countries supplying raw materials from China to India, Bangladesh and Vietnam in February 2020.

Meanwhile, he continued, some orders for raw materials from the State of Panda had just departed from the port to Indonesia.

"Semester I / 2020 is a bit heavy because most of our garment manufacturers are in bonded districts. At the local level, the volume of imports of apparel from Bangladesh began to increase. So, indeed this impact [corona outbreak] must be observed properly, "he said.

Rizal said that the positive side that can be taken from the corona outbreak in China is the increase in the utility of fabric manufacturers. Because, he continued, the absorption of local raw materials by domestic-oriented garment manufacturers is increasing.

However, Rizal still cannot predict the growth of national textile industry production. According to him, this was caused by the unstable national and global economic conditions.

"The factory friends are still holding back [growth projections] because the [association] statement could be a trigger. This condition is insistent," he said.
