The textile industry is battered by the Corona virus which is prevalent throughout the world. This COVID-19 pandemic has even caused a complete decline in demand from upstream to downstream, large and small scale. Domestic and export demand which is the mainstay of the textile industry must withdraw when people's purchasing power decreases and restrictions on human activity in Indonesia to neighboring countries.

Secretary General of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Rizal Rakhman said the decline in performance of the industry was indeed inevitable. He mentioned that exports of textiles and textile products (TPT) as a whole to the global market had fallen by 30-40 percent, even though in January 2020 there had been a 10.2 percent decline year on year (yoy) when Corona was not yet busy.

Rizal said that many countries cancel orders. The range reaches 60-80 percent. The rest of the orders still go ahead and fortunately there are still those who want to complete the contract. Even if there are countries that want to, exports are also not easy.

Because in the country there are restrictions and a number of ports closed, said Rizal. "On average, lockdowns cancel many orders," Rizal said.

On the other hand, producers are also squeezed because the domestic market is also dark. The Corona pandemic forced the celebration of Eid or Lebaran not to be as intense as it used to be. Clothing retailers to textile centers such as Tanah Abang must close following government policies to prevent the spread of Corona.

Even if they were open, he said, not many consumers would buy because of a decline in income followed by a drop in purchasing power. When the market is quiet and closed, practically nothing can absorb textile production.

"Ied we have not counted. The market can not be jacked up. People won't think about buying clothes. The matter is food, medicine, and bills, "Rizal said. The impact, said Rizal, production has dropped dramatically. Usually when the situation is normal, utilization or the level of production capacity usage can reach 70-80 percent outside the feast. Just one month before Lebaran, their utilization is below 40 percent.
