The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) announced, the value of Indonesia's exports in March rose 0.23% to US $ 14.09 billion compared to the previous month. However, when compared to March 2019, Indonesia's exports actually fell 0.20%.

BPS head Suhariyanto said the increase in the value of exports in March was supported by non-oil exports. During March 2020, Indonesia's non-oil and gas exports rose 1.24% mom to US $ 13.25 billion.

Meanwhile non-oil and gas exports fell 16.29% momly from US $ 805 million to US $ 673.9 million in March 2020. The decline in oil and gas commodity prices caused oil and gas exports to collapse last month.

The average price of Indonesian crude oil (ICP) in February 2020 was still at the level of US $ 56.61 per barrel and fell in March 2020 to US $ 34.23 per barrel.

Fluctuations in oil and gas and non-oil prices affect total exports in Indonesia. "Indonesia's exports have increased from February 2020 despite being thin," Suhariyanto said.

Overall the agricultural sector experienced a positive growth of 6.10% mom. There are several agricultural export products that have increased such as medicinal plants, aromatics, spices, fruits, and bird nests.

Exports from the manufacturing sector decreased by 0.20% mom. This significant decline in exports included organic basic chemicals sourced from oil, apparel from textiles and tin.

"This is why exports of the manufacturing industry in March 2020 decreased slightly," he added.

While exports from the mining sector and others recorded a 9.23% increase of US $ 1.98 in March 2020. Increased mining export products came from coal, copper ore and other metal ore.
