PT PLN (Persero) is reviewing a discourse on relief of delaying electricity tariff installment restrictions for business and industrial segment customers. This proposal arises because the business and industrial sectors are also electricity customers affected by the co-19 pandemic.

Executive VP of Marketing and Services of PLN Edison Sipahutar said there had been several proposals related to the delay and installments from the hotel business association, textiles, to the steel industry.

"The proposal is already there, but we are reviewing it," said Edison.

Based on the results of coordination with the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, he continued, there will be more advanced packages being prepared for the industrial sector. However, it is still in the assessment stage. Rida said that it did not rule out the possibility of relief for customers above 900 VA or for the industrial sector.

"For example, small and medium industries, and industries with export orientation," he said.

For now, the government is still looking for solutions to proposals and complaints from business actors affected by the co-19 pandemic.

"The case is that there are additional things that we are monitoring, this is not every region is different. We are in the inventory going forward because this is something extraordinary dynamically very fast. We need policy steps that are also extraordinary in order to provide social networking so as not to suffer too much, "explained Rida.

According to Edison, a study needs to be done to measure the impact on the company's cash flow. Because every electricity tariff policy will have an impact on PLN's cash flow. Because in the future, electricity customers for the 450 VA group will be free, and for the subsidized 900 VA group, they will get a 50 percent discount on electricity tariffs from the government.

Before the discourse arose, if the Covid-19 outbreak still broke out until the end of the year, the relief policy needed to be extended to all groups, not only household customers but also industrial customers. Electricity tariff relief for industry will encourage industry to continue to run their business at normal capacity.

Related to this, the Director General of Electricity of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Rida Mulyana said the government was still considering expanding the policy of providing incentives.

According to him, the government needs to think about future risks, including if the co-19 pandemic does not end. Because he said no one can guarantee when this outbreak will disappear.

"Currently, the new electricity tariff relief is given to household customers with 450 VA power and 50 percent discount for 900 VA power. But we also anticipate and mitigate various risks, both bad and worst, "said Rida.
