Ban on PPE Exports to be Repealed, Entrepreneurs Ready to Send to South Korea and America PDF Print E-mail

Textile industry players are ready to export self-rolling equipment (PPE) and masks, after the Ministry of Trade (Ministry of Trade) is evaluating the matter of a ban on the export of masks and PPE. Executive Secretary of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Rizal Tanzil Rakhman explained, industry players are ready to export PPE and masks to Asian countries such as Japan, South Korea to Europe.

For information, the Government in this case will immediately lift the ban on the export of masks. This Baleid is contained in Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) No. 23 of 2020 concerning a temporary ban on the export of antiseptics, raw materials for masks, personal protective equipment, and masks.

He explained that local PPE absorption was not absorbed domestically because imported products that were already purchased were still available. So when PPE imports enter Indonesia, at the same time the domestic industry is producing the goods.

"The data and the facts show that we have actually been in a surplus to be able to meet domestic needs, so what's wrong with doing exports," he said.

Previously, the Ministry of Trade (Ministry of Trade) was evaluating the removal of exports of masks and personal protective equipment (PPE). This Baleid is contained in Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) No. 23 of 2020 concerning a temporary ban on the export of antiseptics, raw materials for masks, personal protective equipment, and masks.

The Minister of Trade (Mendag) Agus Suparmanto said that he was discussing a ban on the export of masks and PPE. The reason is, his party is still reviewing domestic needs if it wants to export masks and PPE.

"We need exports and here many producers are asking to be opened. However, we will coordinate with other ministries in terms of domestic needs. This is prioritized for domestic needs to be exported," he said.
