Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Rosan P. Roeslani revealed that Indonesia's economic growth is always in tandem with industrial and manufacturing growth.

"It is undeniable that if we want sustainable economic growth it must have a sustainable industry growth as well," Rosan said in Jakarta

He added that the current contribution of the industrial sector to gross domestic product (GDP) decreased when compared to the era of the 1990s until the early 2000s. "The global financial crisis is affecting the national industrial sector," he added.

As is known, in 2001, the contribution of the industrial sector to GDP reached about 27 percent, but the figure declined to only 20.51 percent in 2016 ago. "I hope that number can increase in the year 2017," explained Rosan.

According to him, the national industry sector actually experienced growth, but slower than other sectors. Until the third quarter-2017, the service sector is still a mainstay of economic growth.

"Whereas the service sector has lower labor absorption, the service sector also has more urban-oriented characteristics and support areas," he said.

These factors are different from the character of the manufacturing industry that has high employment absorption, and can be built anywhere according to the potential of the region.

Ideally call him, the manufacturing industry becomes a mainstay sector, supported by services, agriculture, and investment sectors. Therefore, all stakeholders need to unite the views and efforts to restore the industrial sector as a development motor.

"Kadin and all business actors have the same interests with the government to grow the national industry sector," he said.

Industri Nasional Bertumbuh

Hingga kuartal III-2017, sektor jasa masih menjadi andalan utama pertumbuhan ekonomi.
