Mozambique Invites Indonesian Investors to Establish Textile Factory

Mozambique asked Indonesian businessmen to invest in textile factories in the country because it is one of the producers of cotton raw materials.

 

The affirmation was conveyed by Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita after meeting with Minister of Trade and Industry of Mozambique Ragendra Berta de Sousa on the sidelines of Indonesia Africa Forum (IAF) in Nusa Dua. The entry of Indonesia to one of the countries in Africa is believed to be the entrance to the African region.

 

"They produce raw cotton and could also from there it could be the entrance of Africa, but they also have quotas to several other countries. We use that cooperation as a hub, "he explained

 

In addition to textiles, Mozambique also encourages Indonesian entrepreneurs to invest in the field of sugar mills to processing food because of the great opportunities. Enggar said that in the near future, a business delegation from Indonesia will come directly to one of the African countries to see some potentially possible funding.

 

Further explained to realize the investment, Indonesia and Mozambique have agreed to launch Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) which is a kind of agreement of two countries to reduce certain product tariff without losing tariff. According to him, the draft of PTA cooperation will soon be prepared and expected this year can be signed by both countries

 

"Planned in May or June at the latest we will visit Mozambique and certainly some other countries but Mozambique priorities. We will also discuss the follow-up of the draft that we convey later the response from Mozambique, "he explained.

 

Enggar said it would involve the Indonesian ambassador to Mozambique to get involved in completing the draft agreement. It is hoped that in the not-too-distant future bilateral cooperation between the two countries can work and will be the first agreement with the country in Africa.

 

Minister of Industry and Trade of Mozambique Ragendra Berta de Sousa added that he would soon send a technical delegation to finish the draft that would be offered by Indonesia so that cooperation between the two countries could be realized soon. He said his country has potential for Indonesian businessmen, especially in agriculture, tourism, energy, infrastructure and other industries.

 

"We are compatible with Indonesia and the document will soon [our finalization] from now on and we hope it is less than 12 months [finished]," he explained.

Mozambik meminta pengusaha Indonesia untuk berinvestasi dalam bentuk pabrik tekstil di negara tersebut karena merupakan salah satu penghasil bahan mentah katun.

 

Penegasan itu disampaikan oleh Menteri Perdagangan Enggartiasto Lukita usai pertemuan dengan Menteri Perindustrian dan Perdagangan Mozambik Ragendra Berta de Sousa di sela-sela Indonesia Afrika Forum (IAF) di Nusa Dua. Masuknya Indonesia ke salah satu negara di Afrika tersebut diyakini dapat menjadi pintu masuk ke wilayah Afrika.

 

“Mereka produksi cotton mentah dan bisa juga dari sana itu nanti bisa jadi pintu masuk Afrika, tapi mereka juga punya kuota ke beberapa negara lain. Kita pakai kerjasama itu sebagai hub,” paparnya

 

Selain tekstil, Mozambik juga mendorong pengusaha Indonesia berinvestasi dalam bidang pabrik gula hingga pemrosesan makanan karena peluangnya besar. Enggar mengatakan dalam waktu dekat, delegasi bisnis dari Indonesia akan datang langsung ke salah satu negara di Afrika tersebut untuk melihat sejumlah potensi yang memungkinkan didanai.

 

Lebih lanjut dijelaskan untuk merealisaikan investasi itu, Indonesia dan Mozambik telah sepakat meluncurkan Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) yakni semacam kesepakatan dua negara untuk mengurangi tarif produk tertentu tanpa menghilangan tariff. Menurutnya, draf kerja sama PTA akan segera disiapkan dan diharapkan pada tahun ini bisa ditandatangai oleh kedua negara

 

“Direncanakan pada bulan Mei atau Juni paling lambat kami akan berkunjung ke Mozambik dan tentu beberapa negara lain tapi Mozambik prioritas. Kami akan juga membahas tindak lanjut dari draf yang kami sampaikan kemudian respon dari Mozambik,” jelasnya.

 

Enggar menegaskan akan melibatkan duta besar Indonesia untuk Mozambik untuk ikut terlibat menyelesaikan draf perjanjian tersebut. Diharapkan dalam waktu tidak terlalu lama kerjasama bilateral kedua negara bisa berjalan dan akan menjadi perjanjian pertama dengan negara di Afrika.

 

Menteri Perindustrian dan Perdagangan Mozambik Ragendra Berta de Sousa menambahkan akan segera mengutus delegasi teknis menyelesaikan draf yang akan disodorkan Indonesia agar kerja sama dua negara dapat segera terwujud. Dia mengungkapkan negaranya memiliki potensi bagi pengusaha Indonesia, terutama di sektor pertanian, pariwisata, energy, infrastruktur serta industry lain.

 

“Kami cocok dengan Indonesia dan dokumen akan segera [kami finalisasi] dari sejak sekarang dan kami harap kurang dari 12 bulan [sudah rampung],” paparnya.
