The President Director of PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (Sritex), Iwan Setiawan Lukminto MBA, supports the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) to open a Textile Engineering Study Program. The produced Human Resources (HR) of the textile must have expertise relevant to the needs of the National Textile and Textile Product Industry (ITPT).

Iwan Setiawan made the statement at a seminar on IV Congress of IKATSI (Association of Indonesian Textile Experts) in Yogyakarta. The Congress opened expert staff of the Indonesian Minister of Industry, Beni Sutrisno who was accompanied by UII Deputy Rector I, Dr Imam Jati Widodo with beating of the gong.

Furthermore, Iwan Setiawan said that one way to increase capacity of textile HR must be to increase training. In addition, it is necessary to increase employment to accommodate  surge in productive workforce. "The need for expertise in the National ITPT includes textile manufacturing, textile processing, garment, organization, and business development," said Iwan.

It is estimated that the labor demand reaches 400 thousand people, along with the addition of production capacity of 1,638 thousand tons per year and investment of Rp 81.45 trillion. The level of textile expertise includes specialist managers, supervisors, engineers, technicians, research and development, mechanics, machine operators, sales and business development, and others.

The textile industry's potential market, said Iwan, for the country itself has not been fulfilled. Therefore, the National ITPT is a strategic industry in Indonesia which has a population of more than 250 million people. "At present, the domestic market can only meet 60 million Indonesians," he said.

While Redma Gita Wiraswasta, Chairman of IKATSI (Association of All Indonesian Textiles Experts) said that currently there is still a shortage of textile experts. So that there is often a plow to hijack textile experts between companies. This makes textile companies unable to develop together.

Therefore, Redma welcomed the opening of the Textile Engineering Study Program conducted by UII Yogyakarta. In order to bring in a qualified textile expert, Redma, advised UII to cooperate with textile companies.

SDM Tekstil Harus Memiliki Keahlian Relevan

Presiden Direktur PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (Sritex), Iwan Setiawan Lukminto MBA, mendukung Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) membuka Program Studi (Prodi) Rekayasa Tekstil.

Sehingga sering terjadi bajak membajak tenaga ahli tekstil antar perusahaan.
